Christians across the country are answering
the Gospel call to care for our neighbor, especially the most
vulnerable, in a thousand constructive ways.
We are building hospitals and clinics, feeding the hungry, conserving
energy, caring for AIDS orphans, working to free sex slaves,
mentoring children, encouraging racial reconciliation, and
so much more.
But again and again people on the front lines realize that
one bad policy can undo a hundred good initiatives.
That is why it is so important to pay attention to our nation’s
policies and priorities, and to get involved in the political process
to elect the leaders whose decisions affect our nation and our world.
The Matthew 25 Network is a
community of Christians – Catholic, Protestant, Pentecostal, and
Evangelical – inspired by the Gospel mandate to put our faith
into action to care for our neighbor, especially the most vulnerable.
The election of our public officials, and the politics they
stand for, are a reflection of our core values. We believe
that those elected to public office carry an important trust,
as their decisions have a profound impact on our nation and
our world.
We believe that people of faith should actively participate in the
political process as an important avenue for social change. We are
called by our faith to engage in the world as it is, while we seek
after and hope for God’s Kingdom.
Therefore, while no elected official will be without flaw, we come
together as individuals to support candidates for public office who
share the values of the Matthew 25 Network: promoting life with
dignity, caring for the least of these, strengthening and supporting
families, stewardship of God’s Creation, working for peace and
justice at home and abroad, and promoting the common good.
The Matthew 25 Network is a Federal Political Action Committee (PAC) that works to elect and promote candidates who share our values through grassroots mobilization, raising our voices in the media, and paid advertising.
Mara Vanderslice is the organizing force behind the Matthew 25
Network. Prior to founding Matthew 25, Mara worked with Common Good
Strategies, a political consulting firm that worked on connecting elected
officials, candidates and state parties with America’s diverse religious
communities. CGS worked on numerous successful political campaigns in
2006. Prior to that, Mara was the Director of Religious Outreach for
the Kerry-Edwards 2004 campaign. Mara’s work has been profiled in The
New York Times, TIME magazine, The Washington Post,
ABC News and the Christian Broadcasting Network. Mara also appeared
as a guest on The Colbert Report on Comedy Central.

Sharee McKenzie Taylor works on fundraising, strategy and outreach
for The Matthew 25 Network. Sharee has worked as a political consultant
and fundraiser for campaigns in the United States, Canada and Jamaica.
Before her campaign work, Sharee worked as a corporate attorney in New
York at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP. In October 2007, Sharee
joined Wexler & Walker PPA, a public policy firm, where she specializes
in foreign affairs, trade, energy, and technology. Sharee is married
to Minister Adam Taylor and they reside in the Washington DC area, where
they are members of Shiloh Baptist Church.
